INDUSTRIAL
LEATHERS
Friction
- soft and hard, used for the polishing (honing) of Razor Blades
and reptile glazing bolsters.
Waxed
4A - a heavily dressed leather used in the manufacture of Hydraulic
Seals.
Waxed
G - dressed with harder greases and used for Cylinder Oil Scrapers.
PDFlex
- full chrome tanned but made ultra-soft and flexible for later
impregnation of grease for hydraulic seals.
Victan
H - similar to above, for dry moulding but supplied to make a firmer
hydraulic seal.
Cestretan
- (a trade mark derived from Cestrefeld, the old Roman name for
Chesterfield) a full chrome then vegetable tanned (= a retanned)
leather suitable for the manufacture of hydraulic seals. This dry
leather enables the producer to impregnate with his own waxes, but
capable of being dry-moulded at up to 130C.
Cestretan
`G', as above impregnated with a hard wax for moulding immediately
after softening of the grease.
Round
Belting leather - made to drive industrial sewing machines etc.
Oiled
Leathers - for marine seals and for anti-chafing applications
like chain and rope protectors.
MOD
Leathers - approved supplier of specially tanned vegetable leathers
made to tropic and rot-proof specifications.
BUFFALO
LEATHERS
Vegetable
tanned - specially tanned for its high Abrasive properties
for Polishing wheels, for steel and cutlery trades.
Chrome
tanned, again used as a Friction material. Made up into various
layers, rivetted together and used as a clutch drive in a large
car-body type screw press.
